so my best friend introduced to me to an artist who has an amazing imagination. You can tell janelle monae has a passion for what she does. it's present throughout her entire full length album, The ArchAndroid (Suites II and III) and her original short EP, Metropolis: Suite I (The Chase). she is able to get your attention with a few sweet beats and a voice that is pretty soulful for her age. she quickly takes you on a journey through a world that she created; loosely based off the the 1927 German silent film, Metropolis.


she brilliantly pulls off an amazing concept that makes you feel something, if you really listen to what she has to say that is. the music in itself can carry you through the entire album on its own journey. blended with her voice, it gives you a funkadelic feel. afro-funk. anyway, take watch these videos and see what true art is. and go purchase her albums! you won't be disappointed.

the hype that follows this poor child is insane. i have found that i can tolerate her when she is featured in someone else music. on her own, i don't think i can tolerate her much. or maybe its just looking at her but i'm not so convinced she is the hottest thing to come to the female rap world!

life has been crazy these past few months. i'm still in the process of getting settled into my new place, which i have no internet yet!

so after a weekend that was supposed to be fun, relaxing and filled with hanging out with a person that had potential. i'm left feeling a little empty, bitter and absolutely stupid! i fell hard for empty words prior to flying out to vegas to see someone that needs to grow up in many different ways.
lame excuses and witty jokes don't make up for the fact that i was stood up. to say the least, i'm putting my walls up... way up but before i do that i will be dancin through the heartbreak....

now... for those of you (if anyone actually reads this)that are sitting here like, wtf! i know, it's the worst video i have ever seen and the song isn't even that good... yet then again, i will probably be dancing to this song in a few months at a bar, thinking how in the heck, really he took it there in that video...but eh, don't hate on me if you like it.

in other news, i watched the Janet performance from the AMA'S today.. yeah umm, Janet's my girl and all but she really wasn't givng me anything. the songs on the other hand took me on some fun memories but yeah..other than that it was what it was... she will always be an icon, either way...

the saturdays are still on the fence with me. i'm still struggling to deal with the crazy removal of keisha buchannan, one of the most talented female singers that was an original member of my all time favorite british girl group: sugababes! so while i find a replacement favorite british girl group... the saturdays are doing a fair job of keeping me entertaind but not giving me the push to enjoy them all the way.

now this is a lame post but i enjoy the video.
